ethan and eagean

ethan loves cheese, puzzles, and toy vehicles, especially garbage trucks; eagean is probably the youngest T.V. fan on earth.

(16- 20 May 2008) - Peiling Auntie

“为什么Peiling auntie会出现在Phuket Island咧?"
当Peiling忽然在沙滩出现,从恒恒错愕的表情,想必这问题一定不停地在他塞满一万个为什么的大脑袋里问着。。。

对于Peiling auntie的印象 - 举凡有来历不明的礼物,你让他猜是谁送的? 十之八九他会猜是他最爱的姨姨或Peiling auntie :)

(16 - 19 May 2008)

Babylon Beach Club is a restaurant by the Bangtao beach, they serve Thai food. We found this from the "Where to eat in Phuket" (http://www.wheretoeat-phuket.com/). The food is so-so, only the pineapple fried rice is good. However, it's oceanfront location is fantastic with the stunning seaviews.

(16 - 19 May 2008)

Indigo Pearl Phuket is where we put up for our 4D/3N trip. There are 3 swimming pools and this is the main pool that's closet to our rooms. Ethan had so much fun there, even though papa had forgotten to bring his tube and his beach ball.

(16 - 19 May 2008)

Drink like a fish

We all know every kid has her own unique personality and quality that make her who she is. But we also know in general, they all share many same traits that make them alike, childlike, that is.

But sometimes I find both my nephews have certain weird little eccentricities that I couldn't really associate with other kids.

Take eagean for example, he LOVES drinking. Seriously, he doesn't really have a big appetite like his brother has, but he sure drinks A LOT. Even plain water. Yes, you hear me right, Plain Water!

He drinks all sort of liquid he could have his hand on. Plain water, milk, milo, ribena, yakult, soup, tea, milk tea, chinese tea, 100 Plus, coke, and even god forbid, beer! Well before you all start to condemn his parents and guardians, please hear out how it happened first.

The first time, it was at one of the party where beer and can drinks were served. As usual the boys would ask to have sample of any canned drinks they had laid their eyes on. And then one of the relatives took the liberty to let them try beer, with the purpose to stop their harrasment once and for all. It worked for ethan, but not for eagean though. He simply refused to stop and they had to peel him off the can!

After which, if you show him cans of soft drink and beer, he would choose beer!

Last week, we dine out at a restaurant. While waiting for the food to be served, eagean was making fuss and I carried him around. Then we came in front of the display of a wholes set of expensive vintage wine, with different sizes from the normal 375ml bottle to one really gigantic bottle that must have been at least 10 gallons.

Totally unexpectedly, he told me,

'ne-ne wants to drink wine!'

My Goodness!!! I can so see the born of a future boozer.

ni-no car

As mentioned in earlier post, little eagean is turning two soon this coming Jan 11. I have been scratching my head so hard my scalp almost bleed and still I couldn't figure what to get for him. For he doesn't seem to have any particular interest or toys that he really loves, well unless you count fighting for any of his brother's toys an interest.

Then yc mentioned about his interest in 'ni-no' car recently. It dated back to ethan whom after attended 3 week of short classes, decided he want to work in Singapore, just like his parents. And when asked how is he going to commute to work, he said he would buy a bike. Then someone asked eagean what type of vehicle would he wanna buy, and he would give the same answer consistantly, 'ni-no' car it is.

We all assume 'ni-no' is the sound of siren. But no one seems to really try figure what exactly does he mean by ni-no car. For all we know, it could be a police car, an ambulance, or any vehicle that has siren.

Last week, while we were at toys-r-us, yc suggested getting one 'ni-no' car for eagean since he seems to really like it and kept talking about it all times. Then I showed yc a toy ambulance.

'hmm...It never cross my mind it could be an ambulance, I though it's police car he is referring to,' said yc.

O ya, how come it never crossed my mind either. So we decided to seek confirmation from eagean.

me: ne-ne, is this a ni-no car?
ne-ne: ............ *blank face*

OK, so it's not ambulance! But we couldn't find any police car at that store (come to think of it, what kind of toys-r-us was that!?) to confirm. But we assume chances are his ni-no car is police petrol car.

So yesterday, while I was at kiddy palace at Lot 1, I called yc again to check with her if she had found out what ni-no car is.

"But how?" she asked.

"Ask ne-ne," I said. Then I heard her try to no avail.

So I suggested getting a small and cheap police car to confirm, and if that's the right ni-no car, then I'll look for one that has more features and of better quality. Nevertheless I couldn't find any, the one priced at $4.90 was really ugly and of poor quality. The box was crumpled and they didn't have any more stock.

Then I saw one set which comes with total of 6 or 7 different type of police force vehicles including police helicopter. I decided he probably would like that.

And today, yc told me that they finally found out the answer. Before that, she asked gu-gu if she knows what ni-no car was and she couldn't be sure if it's an ambulance or police car wither. Then they brought him to toys-r-us at Jusco, wherethe automobile toys section has all the different vehicles you could name.

"ne-ne, tell mama which one is ni-no car?'' asked yc in anticipation.

And the little finger pointed at the FIRE-ENGINE!!!!!!!!!!

ARGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

27 November, 2007 - It's a stressful day for Tan's family. Me and Yang took a day off as we need to send our 陈家宝 to Xaris Kindergarten - his 1st chapter of pre-schooling!

外公and 外婆 were here as well to witness this important moment. As expected, 恒恒 hide behind my back all the time. No matter how hard the teachers had tried, it didn't ease his feeling at all.

I was there with him while teachers were making all the kids sang and danced with them. I was the ONLY mum there! I still can't believe I danced and sang like a big student just trying to get 恒恒 participated. He didn't surprise me though - still shying away from all the attempts teachers made to break the ice. Teachers spoke to the kids in English, I could see all the question marks in his head :D

Papa and 外公外婆 were waiting in front of the class patiently, while I stayed in the class accompanying 恒恒。After approximately an hour, teachers announced it's tea-break time! I translated the same to 恒恒 and all of a sudden, he was back to his usual self! He went ahead to wash his hands but the teachers pulled him back to the queue - oh! this was his first lesson learnt in school - we must queue for everything! Ever read a study - that we spend about 1/3 of our life queuing?

ne-ne's milestone

Little ne-ne is turning two soon. My, not another terrible two while there's already a trouble-making three!

Here's a list of some of the latest milestone achieved:

He can jump with both feet lifted from floor

He can communicate with simple sentence and phrase, but beware, as he would be very annoyed if you can't understand him after he repeated himself more than once!

He would let mama trim his hair although the trimmed hair fallen on his shoulder make him itch so much he need e-e to keep puffing powder on him while he kept hurrying mama, "ma, ok! ma ok!"

heavier than a bag of rice!

ethan: (Frowning hard much to his confusion) gu-gu, why do you name yourself pu tao gan*

yu-yu:...........

*pu tao gan = raisin (in mandarin)

an eventful weekend

Yesterday, garren and I followed the boys and their parents on a day trip back to Kluang to visit their 'wai gong', 'wai-po', and 'tai-popo'.

On our way to have breakfast, ethan suddenly became unusually quiet in the car. Soon we realized that he was upset with us for god-knows-what reason. He refused to talk to us no matter how we tried to cheer him up and asked why was he upset.

I tickled and hugged him but he simply didn't buy in any of those. He finally warmed up (or decided to forgive us) after we reached the bistro. My, he just turned 3 not long ago and already we start having trouble catching up with his emotions and temper.

Later yc told me it's the first time she had seen him like that too! I guess there would be more first times coming up! However, we suspect that he was being jealous because I was holding eagean and probably hadn't given him as much attention. Gosh, if 2 is terrible, 3 is definitely more horrible!

And the headline of the trip went to our accident-prone ne-ne. This time, he almost scared the living hell out of all of us. While running around the house, he fell and smashed his face into the sharp edge of the speakers. Blood was gushing out from his lower left eye immediately as he howled and wailed on top of his lungs. Panicly, papa and mama and wai gong rushed him to the clinic, while the rest of us stayed back with ethan.

Fortunately, the wound missed the eye abeit the rather bad cut. Poor little eagean! I guess we felt more pain for him but he seemed to take it better. Soon he started running about as usual, only with a badly bruised and swollen eye and a blood-stained bandage under the eye. Our little warrior!

Little eagean before the injury (yc, please remember to take and upload the 'damaged child' shot)

Water Boys

Last week, yu-yu, uncle Chong and ah ma brought the boys to Port Dickson for a short vacation. I can imagine them going all ga-ga by the pool, just like when they were at Vivo City water playground.

ne-ne: wow...
ethan: waaaaaaaa....
ethan: tee-hee....
ne-ne: what the.....

ne-ne: he...brrr..... lp...
